Forged Discs & Gear Blanks

Discs forging

Scot Forge produces discs and gear blanks of ferrous and non-ferrous materials, with an infinite variety of sizes from 2" to 144" diameter, and individual weights up to 300,000 lbs.

Forged discs are made by upsetting or standing heated material on end and working it between the upper and lower dies. The upset process induces directional grain flow, which gives strength, ductility, and increased resistance to impact and fatigue not found in plate or bar stock.
